Can you get anime from iTunes?
I know it's not a good idea to download footage for your AMVs, but I need to use clips from an anime which I don't particularly LIKE, to tell you the truth. Which is the reason I don't want to get the DVDs. Anyway, can you get anime from iTunes? I only need one episode, or even just an opening sequence.

Re: Can you get anime from iTunes?
iTunes carries some series, but to use it requires one of two scenarios:
1) By far the best circumstance, is that the episodes are in iTunes Plus format, so there isn't any DRM on them. FFmpegSource will open these without any issues.
2) You're NOT running the newest version of iTunes (or possibly even many of the minor versions prior to the switch from iTunes 8 to iTunes 9, I can't remember which particular minor version the cutoff occurred on), because the decryption software doesn't work with it yet, and you'll be SOL.
The idea behind 'no downloaded footage' is based on fansubs and RAWs, which are both problematic for legal reasons, not legit storefronts like iTunes. However, like the compromised-quality reputation of fansubs (which is another reason for the rule, yes, but not the most important reason), the quality of most video download stores like iTunes or Amazon will not be comparable at all to a DVD copy (although the HD trailers on the Quicktime site, and presumably HD purchases from the iTunes Store, are a big exception to that rule - they still won't compare to Blu-ray, though).
In iTunes' case, even though they use H.264, the featureset that Apple uses is pretty crippled, and even at that would be easily outperformed by other encoders operating at the same featureset - this means that it's going to have some rather visible problems (again, exempting the HD stuff, as downscaling them virtually eradicates that issue).

So, basically you're saying that iTunes DOES have some anime, but the quality isn't that great????The idea behind 'no downloaded footage' is based on fansubs and RAWs, which are both problematic for legal reasons, not legit storefronts like iTunes. Re: Can you get anime from iTunes?
With the big disclaimer: if you can even get at the videos at all, whether because they aren't encrypted or you're working on an old enough version of iTunes that the available solutions to decrypt video purchases still work.

You haven't heard of http://www.netflix.com ?! Well I haven't heard of Green Cine. Thank you Scintilla.
I admire your idea to make AMVS with graphic novels.
