Where can I find...
(as I have googled every combination of the words I can think of and searched these forums the same way) the script for the green "preview" screen you would see before most any movie trailer?
I appreciate any direction on this. Thanks!

I don't know of any avisynth script that will automatically generate one. I usually see people build one in an image editor. You can then load the resulting image with ImageSource() or put it directly into your editing program.
For reference, the three intro screens you'll see are:
Green band (G/PG trailer for any rating of movie):
Yellow band (PG-13 internet-only trailer for PG-13 or higher movie):
Red band (R trailer for R or higher movie):

I don't think I've ever seen that yellow one. The red I actually did recently because of the restricted trailer for MacGruber. The text is slightly different for new trailers, though - the green uses "Appropriate Audiences" now, and the red uses "Mature Audiences".
Heck, all you'd really have to do is grab one of the trailers from Apple's site (or iTunes, if the main site fails), take the first frame, and clean it up a little if you wanted to. The 1080p offerings on there are probably the highest quality you'll find for official MPAA titlecards. You could also just use it as a template and compose your own faux ratings board text.

This would be using photoshop I assume? I have limited acces to said program. AKA, no money. Any programs you recommend?Qyot27 wrote:I don't think I've ever seen that yellow one. Seconded. I don't think there's much it can't do that Photoshop can.Enigma wrote:Gimp. It's free.OzzieAlThor79 wrote:This would be using photoshop I assume? I have limited acces to said program. Yes! More to learn!
So the idea is that I could take an image from any high quality video, import it into here and (after much study on how to do this) start tinkering with said opening image?
I am assuming I will then take said tinkerd image and make that my opening in my video editor. Correct?

You could also use regular old MS Paint (or Paint.Net, if you're so inclined) to do it. It's simply a matter of cleaning up any noise in the image*, possibly removing the logo if one's there (which would be as simple as copying another block of green over it after you've made sure the titlecard is uniform), and either making your own text layer (with drop shadow, something Paint can't do), or just leaving the image as-is. If you save it as a 24-bit Bitmap then you can import it into virtually any video editing software (I would have recommended .PNG or .PSD, but those highly depend on what video editor you're using - uncompressed bitmaps are practically guaranteed to work, though).
*Paint can't do that, or at least not easily nor in the sense of smoothing the image; Paint.Net might be able to, I've not messed with it enough. Both Photoshop and GIMP definitely can.

Re: Where can I find...
However, if you're making a trailer parody, just use the original trailer and splice it apart and use it like any other video footage. Needing to mess with the titlecard is really only necessary if you want to parody that too, or the quality of the card is atrocious (with the Apple trailers this is not the case, though - you may need to mask over the Apple logo in the bottom right corner, though).
