H.264 (aka MPEG-4 AVC) is a standard. x264 is a codec within the standard. Like XviD is a codec within the MPEG-4 ASP standard.JaddziaDax wrote:mp4 is a container

MeGUI is definitely my choice.....but as I don't have one, will be using "main concept", just outta curiosity what happens if you install the amvapps while working on a project?

The main issue is with dgindex. Newer versions are not backwards compatable with older versions, so once you install a new version, you can't access your .d2v files unless you remake them.lister007 wrote:MeGUI is definitely my choice.....but as I don't have one, will be using "main concept", just outta curiosity what happens if you install the amvapps while working on a project?

If you want something that's better quality than Xvid and widely supported, look no further than H.284. QuickTime 7 supports MPEG-4 AVC, and since QT is bundled with iTunes, almost everyone on the face of the planet (except foobar fags) have AVC support. Apple really did us encoders a favor with that move. Now we're just waiting on High Profile support in QuickTime and we'll be golden (and that should come as soon as Blu-ray drives in Macs, which could be as soon as WWDC on Monday.)
