Encoding Issue - Video Comes Up Black

Okay, so, I've just finished my first pass in Virtualdubmod. I followed the video compression guide to the T, but something's wrong. When I try to open the file in Windows Media Player, it doesn't work at all, and when I try to open it in the DivX Player, only the audio plays. What is the problem, here? Does anybody know?

how did you export from your editing software?

and

what is your editing software?

is there video in your export?

Yeah, I did all of those things. However, it seems that I selected the wrong file (which had the wrong file extension), so I've gotten it figured out, now. Sorry for jumping the shark a bit there, and thanks for your help, regardless (I've noticed you're a pretty helpful one!

but you never answered my questions @_@ so i dont know how you "did all those things" because they werent questions that asked "did you do this?"
