don't have the right compressor?

Post by leo-solar » Wed Nov 07, 2007 3:09 pm

...hi. I wanted to upload my vidoe (but it has to be >100MB) and so tried to compress it. I can get it down to 150MB but thats it (it's only 5 min. long). I read the how-to file and it said to use the Hyvuur-something or another compressor, but I don't have that (I use adobe premier). Can someone help me out?

from what i know you should export from adobe premiere uncompressed then take that uncompressed file and import it to Virtualdub Mod and compress it there with XVID ...

OR get Zarxgui and compress it to h.264

close, premiere version 6 and earlier shouldn't have any trouble exporting a huffyuv or lagarith file.
*Lagarith is another lossless codec, like huffyuv, but it gives you smaller files.
lagarith encodes are still big, but not as big as huffyuv. It takes a little more oomph to encode/decode lagarith.

premiere pro (all versions, including CS2 and CS3) has lots of export issues, so it's best to export uncompressed.

after you export (an uncompressed export will probably be somewhere between 1GB and 3GB) load the file you just exported into virtualdub (or virtualdubmod) and follow the guide for compressing with xvid

if you feel a little adventurous you can use zarx264GUI, but you'll need CCCP or VLC to play the .mp4 file you'll get from that.

If you're not in a rush, I would still suggest trying HuffYUV or Lagarith first. I've not had issues exporting with HuffYUV in coming up on four years of using Premiere Pro, and I know I'm not the only one.

It comes with the AMVapp, and you can also get it separately at the VirtualDubMod Sourceforge page
