I work with premiere pro 2 and after effects 7, and I'm really stumped how to convert my files to format that both support. for some reason, after effects doesn't import my naruto footage, even though it's in avi format. any ideas how to conver them to high quality which is supported by both programs?

hey is it possible for me to download and install that 'compressor' that after effects has a problem with? I mean, I get this error:
No such avi compressor

for an entire episode you wont be able to do it. if ur looking for a lossless codec the best ATM are HuffYUV and Lagarith. (or uncompressed but very few ppl edit with that due to size) however an average 20 minute episode will still take u like 4-5gb using those codecs. if ur just storing the files on ur machine to watch instead of edit with, go for a different codec such as mp4 or if u like xvid/divx. however, i HIGHLY suggest not editing with these codecs because they cause problems with most editors.RavageXavier wrote:I know it is complicated lol. I just want to find a format that doesnt lose uality and isnt bigger than 300 mb or something
if ur using premiere, im not as up to date on it since i use vegas, but ive heard you can use the straight files from AVIsynth and not actually have to export a HuffYUV or Lagarith to edit with as premiere supports avs. (not entirely sure but i think i remember reading that or something similar). however you would still need to rip the DVD anyways
