If the problem still consists after that, you're obviously missing any form of .h264 codecs. Downloading CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) from here should fix that.

If nothing mentioned above works, you're most probably doing something wrong.

Hope that helped.

Did you use DirectShowSource?

Yes, I have found a way to make it up with DirectshowSource and applied more or less the same thing with ffmpegsource but still nothing .. although the error i get is different .. With FFmpegsource it just said it couldnt open it and with Directshousource it said that the video and the audio got rejected something like that.. ill post in detail the error messages i got in both cases later today ... But meh I figure i got a .h264 codec missing . Thing is Im trying to avoid as much as possible to install Codec Packs.

Why? well im currently working on 3 separate amvs and theyre all on xvid format .. Xvid is uninstalled but Divx still reads it so basically ican still edit xvid vids .. Anyways . it would be great if you could help me . :)

Cheers.

The answer to not using XviD files to edit isn't to not have XviD installed, it's to NOT EDIT WITH LOSSY DISTRIBUTION CODECS.

::shrug:: buy the damn DVDs?

Variable frame rates will make things look funny when you transcode the entire file to a lossless codec. (you are doing that, right?)

And you should be transcoding that d/l file into a lossless codec (Huffyuv, Lagarith).

So...are you encoding these .mkv files to DivX/XviD? If you are, that's your problem and you need to stop it. You do not use codecs like those two to edit with. They are lossy codecs made for distribution and distribution alone. Edit with lossless compression.
... yea ...

You don't need to play it - you just need to transcode it.

*sorry for the bump* I strictly remeber there being some sort of pack you could download that had all these programs and codecs and stuff in it, can anyone point the way?
