.mkv extraxt to "other format" le-help ^__^
need help from both Scintilla & Zarxrax on this'a one:
Files are coming in MKV packages and look like hell on my laptop.
1) I need to extract the .ass .srt files from the MKV's
2) I can do the rest on my own .. however, I seem to have misplaced the How-To section
on separating the files from the MKV Container FAQ's ... any idea's where that has been
moved to?? ^__^ THx
MKV --> .ass ...... shouldn't be that hard to do but ....

You can use the commandline tool mkvextract.exe from MKVToolnix: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

If you don't like command line interces, then after you install the mkvtoolnix, you can put the mkvextractgui exe file in the same installation folder of the mkvtoolnix and then run it.

mkvextract tracks "file.mkv" x:file.ass y:file.srt, where x and y are the track numbers. For example, I encode an mkv with an audio, video, and subtitle track in that order, and name the thing derp.mkv:
mkvextract tracks derp.mkv 3:subs.ass
mkvextract tracks derp.mkv 3:subs.ass

interesting .. both English and Symbols .. hmmm; any idea what program encodes sub's in both languages?
.ssa used to be Sub-Station-Alpha 4.0 -or- Sub-Title-Workshop 2.51 .. however; neither of these recognizes
the pulled .ssa file -- hmmmm
.. oh well; time to make a program which "locks" only the usable info which these programs have extracted ^_^
Good Enough - THx ^__^

forgive me for skipping over your responce.Mister Hatt wrote:mkvextract tracks "file.mkv" x:file.ass y:file.srt, -or- mkvextract tracks derp.mkv 3:subs.ass
I'm afraid this is my fault. I was too busy searching for answers that I missed your reply
and found the Subbing program about the same time Qyot27 posted-it.
( I have that sorta timing - somehow. ) The good news is that you were
actually what caused me to look for THAT program: .ASS was NOT a misprint! -- THx
