That's either a problem with your filters/effects or you didn't crop your DVD properly.

Ok, that is weird, checked you're encoding with the right range/colourimetry? XviD is locked at PC601 but AVC allows for considerably more. Try running the AVC encode with PC601 and go from there.

That actually makes a lot of sense indeed. If the video is using the full range of 0-255, and xvid is locked to that, then it would be obviously correct, but x264 uses 16-235 by default so it'd make sense if it'd come out darker. Try adding

Code: Select all

--fullrange on
to your x264 line.
