Re: multiplatform codec help
I might just point out that Huffy is libavcodec compatible. That means that ffmpeg can encode/decode it. You can use ffmpeg for simple encoding and muxing if need be. I might write up some OSX instructions for it later, but it would almost certainly be commandline. Something else to note is that Huffy isn't the only lossless codec you can use. The quicktime container can use quite a large number of FOURCCs and codecs, among them PNG (doesn't compress well) and H264 (restricted to YV12 colourspace) but both of which can be encoded to and from whatever program. IIRC, FFV1 works as well. Huffy is a good format for ease of use with RGB data but it certainly isn't the ONLY choice when dealing with mov files.

Re: multiplatform codec help
OK, were going to try the huffy mov on my PC (I know mov's worked years ago when I was on premiere 6.1, so it *should* work in pro). If that ends up not working then we will scrap the footage and go with the lossless x264 which will hopefully work on my old software.
As far as premiere compatabiltiy issues, it shouldnt be a problem. I believe we are doing all of the basic editing on my computer, then aftereffects on his, and then the final finishing touches on mine again for the final render. Besides if we are using a lossless codec then doing 1-2 renders shouldn't effect quality enough to be noticeable right?
In other news I accidentally filled up all my HDD space last night with another project and will need to buy another TB drive before doing anything else. Maybe I can pick one up and not wait for shipping.

"were all going to hell... in a handbasket... and I'm driving!"
"... how do you drive a handbasket?"
"... ... I dunno"
