before the spazzing banner makes a return, do not use DivX or Xvid in Premiere. It'll likey mess up your video.

just getting that out of the way.

And for just the startup...have you tried starting premiere with DivX uninstalled? And instead of DivX, try using XviD.

I usually use them as quicktime or uncompressed RGB for speed, is that better? Just have a divx movie in there some where so it gone ape sh*t. I use xvid anyway, but updated the divx to see if it was worth it ..... guess what.....it sucks. :|

If you are talking for your source footage, use Huffyuv or Lagarith but Uncompressed RGB is another good option so if you've used that before, I'd stick with it.

Ok lets say for some reason Huffyuv or Lagarith but Uncompressed RGB isn't working, probably because pro is the worst encoder ever. What is the next best thing? In other words what is the next best thing to lossless or uncompressed? Is it xvid? Is it dv avi? etc. Also what are the best settings? I will assume same bit rate as original, same ratio, res fps, etc? Doesn't really how big the file is, as long as the stream can be processed in virtualdubmod and exported from pro?

What do you think?

Next best thing is the Debugmode Frameserver, which is explained <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... t">here</a>.

To use it, you have to make sure to change your export video type from "Microsoft AVI" to "Debugmode Frameserver" or whatever the option is called. This confused me for a while, because the frameserver is also on the list of codecs for the Microsoft AVI export type, yet that way doesn't work.
Ok so found that, it answers my question until I look for it and it isn't in there with microsoft avi etc, what now?

Did you quit Premiere Pro, install the frameserver, and then restart Premiere Pro? If that didn't make it show up on the type list, then you may have to restart your computer.
