Also, don't convert entire episodes; cut only the clips you need. That will help you save space.

That depends on editing software and system stats. If you have quite fast PC,maybe even multi-core,then Lagarith would be more suitable, since it IS multithread codec. And,Lag takes less space, though it's still pretty large.

Huffyuv is faster than Lagarith(unless,of course, you have multi-core PC,as I mentioned a bit higher, sometimes Lag can be a lot faster than Huffy),but uses a lot more space, and is suggested for people with a lot of free space.

Personally,I'd suggest you to use Lagarith, since I'm using it,and it didn't gave me any problems yet,and with that I can save more disk space.

I'd suggest to use Uncompressed only when you'll finish yer stuff, and will be rendering it from your editing software, since then you won't have any problems with compressing it for sharing(uploadin' here).

From what I understood, you could create clips(because converting full episodes is really something you shouldn't do,because full ep in Huffyuv will take up like 35 GB),it will save up space, and will be much easier to work with.

If you want alternatives, you could always try editing with AviSynth scripts, but editing will be slow as hell, and often takes much of patience and temper to work with.

Or if you want more alternatives, you can wait until Kev shows up and suggests to use MJPEG editing (I haven't tried it yet,so I don't know how good is it),but as Kev said :

So,it's up to you what to do next.

.. Helix YV12 would be the fastest turnaround from Savings to Importing to Savings again however, .. understand the settings before you use it! Anything marked MicroSoft and/or Intel is completely out of the question! Now the only question is, "what Editor are you going to be using" because some editors do not like Huffy nor lagarith Codec's!
.. Companies like Ulead and MGI use their own formats and do not allow Codecs unless they can be imported as Filters. Magix and Avid could care less what you use -- as long as its not AVI related T_T
.. Editing with only Virtual Dub MOD is as simple as it gets. You might want to find a FPS Marker changing program so Virtual Dub can import all your edits for the Master Compiling of your AMV. AviFrameRate Programs are very simple to use and are free.
