AMVs on the DS

Post by BasharOfTheAges » Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:16 am

So, I started using BatchDPG to put AMVs on my R4DS so I could play them on my DS and was wondering if anyone had experience using this software to hit the upper limit of the DS's play-back capabilities. I know setting the video to high-profile encoding causes video and audio to stutter, so this software can produce dpg videos that the DS can't really play. I've also noticed a fair amount of large pixelation with some videos. So, the question, I guess, is if you have used BatchDPG, what settings can you get away with before the DS starts to fail with playback?

I used to use batchdpg a while back to watch anime, but I don't really remember a lot of the settings I used. From what I remember though, it pretty much sucked for amvs, because their high motion makes them difficult to compress. And its basically just mpeg-1 technology, so it's not like you can really get very far with it.

I gernally use the Max video converter
but while it has a high quality output for the amv's you do lose video controls. (can't ff or rw)
