Ya I honestly have no clue how to do this. I know vdub can convert some mkvs, which ive done b4, but some it doesnt. The ones I have right now, dont work. I have no clue what to do as another option -.-

Most likely you have the same problem I do; the codec for the video file is h.264. If you got h.264, forget it, your in for a hard time if you ever wish to get any amount of editing done using that type of codec.

There's a wiki and a forum at the site with lots of info.

If you just want to convert from MKV to AVI, the basic process is:

- open your video in Avidemux
- choose and configure video and audio encoders from the drop-down menus on the left
- select AVI under the Format menu
- File > Save > Save Video

Or just use FFMpegSource instead of DirectShowSource to open the file in Vdub. Get that plugin here. Extract it from the .rar file and drop the .dll into AviSynth's plugin folder.

I think there's actually another plugin that's beginning to be considered better than FFMpegSource, but for the life of me, I don't know what it is anymore. Someone else can throw it out if I'm not just going crazy.
