Sony Accucore DVDs Wont Burn

Post by blaku92 » Thu Apr 10, 2008 12:41 pm

Hi, I have a Philips DVD+RW DVD8601 burner, on an XP system and for some reason I cant burn/backup any of my videos onto Sony DVD+R Accucore Discs. Does anyone know what the hell Sony did this time? Any way I can fix this problem? Fujifilm DVD+R discs work fine, but I dont have any left and I'm worried that I wasted my money on some advanced Sony discs that may not be compatible with my old burner. Thanks!

The sony disks work fine for me

most of the time the problem is not the media but the burner, especially the cheap one you get for $30

do the disks read at all?

It will recognize it as a burnable disc, and show that it is empty -- but when I start burning onto the disc, burning software (Sonic) says burning error. I'm about 90% sure it has something to do with my old ass DVD burner, but this is the first time I've ever had trouble burning on a disc because of compatibility issues.

If it helps, I've had burners just up and stop working for me in the past. They'll still work as DVD drives, but just not burn. Have you checked any other brand since these stopped working?

It could, in all likelihood, just be some sort of wonky compatibility issue as well.

I think it might be the software
I never even heard of that before

try the nero demo and see if it will burn

You've never heard of Sonic? It's used with Avid nowadays... well anyway, I've tried a couple of burning programs and it still doesn't work. When I first tried to burn a Sony Accucore DVD+R it failed, so then I used my very last Fujifilm DVD+R and it worked. I've used several different DVD+R brands in the past (including non-accucore sony DVDs) and have never had this problem. At this point I'm pretty sure that my Hardware just cant burn onto the Accucore style discs. But if anyone knows of a way to make it work please let me know. Thanks!
