Is This External Reliable?

Post by Minimoto » Wed Jun 23, 2010 2:39 pm

I've been reading reviews, and truth be told, they're all over the place. I can't get a good grasp if this thing is reliable. I really want to be careful because my last one broke after only one month of usage, a damn waste of $100+, and I don't want a repeat situation. This one (Warranty? My cousin brought the thing to his friend saying he'll fix it, I was like no man, let's just replace it on warranty, he said we'd do that if he couldn't fix it. Next thing is, I read the stupid warranty and it won't work if screws or stickers and stuff is missing, and his awesome friend broke the outside casing by accident... so that's a no go)

Doesn't look like the HP one has any reliability issues. For the price they're asking though, you can get an external from a more established HDD manufacturer (Western Digital, Seagate or Iomega for example).

Western Digital has always done good for me, so I'd go for this or something similar

Oh, Western Digital. My cousin recommended that but said the price is really high. Guess not so much.

Now just to find a way to order them. My family is the type that thinks that EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY online is out to steal your identity, money, etc. Nobody is to be trusted... so I had to ensure them of soooo much just to buy my AX ticket. I'd buy it if it was local store but I don't have a credit card...

You should be able to pick one up at any decent electronics store, like Best Buy.

Just bought it. I got a Western Digital My Book Essential External Hard Drive. Cost me about $120.
