Also one more thing too

You have the adiquate needs to pull this off and the Nvida cards will work on your system as it is. But remember the more Hz the better! Same with RAM and Hard drive space. You are at recomended specs but I would get something better unless. . . you like reading "The Art of War" with a gallon of Java beside you. as you wait for 2 min of vid to process.

Also if you want me to I could give you a good setup and pricings for you on a new pc if you like. Name a price and I'm make it work.

You forgot one thing though Ed, his comp is a 450. Do you really think he has an 4X AGP if he even has an AGP slot at all?

His MoBo could be a 1x AGP makes no diff Nvida is backwards compatiable. Plus he has to have a AGP slot on his MoBo becasue he has a Geforce 2 MX 400 which is a AGP type card.

I didn't notice that he already had a Geforce2 mx400. That probably will do it for outputting to a video tape. Of course how well your stuff plays back :o. Also you'd need to get a cable to convert the stuff from your speakers into something that can hook into your VCR.

:P If you want a new computer, you can ask me and I can make something up cheap. :p or well give you a price list.

Hey you guys are a lot of help. After reading your reply's, I'm planning on buying these things
Adobe Premiere
DVD drive
More ram
More mhz
More hard drive space
(gess that means buying a new one)

also thinking about taking Edo's advice and also buy that FX5800. Checked it out. Pretty sweet

I would like it to be cheap just like any other person but if it cost a lot, it cost a lot. again, any more reccomended products are appreciated. Wouldn't wanna buy something and found out that something better just came out

Yes, I'm wondering if this guy realizes that he needs ~$5000 to get a computer that can use all of that fx5800's specs

They overload there cards with too many features they run too hot and they always, always end up breaking or having major problems when you get the latest cards. Stick with NVIDIA! Always stable and never have a problem right off the shelf, even when they just came out with them, trust me. I have a Ti 4600 and I've never had a problem yet. The Ti 4600 is just like one of those Pinnacle DV500 capture cards, sometimes better! You can get a Ti 4600 AGP 4x on pricewatch.com for $164! Or Heck! Get a FX5800 top of the line and best on the market for quality at retail for $224!
oh please... I've had 3 radeons without a hassle! your problems are probly either isolated incidents, bad choice of oems (Powercolor...) or.... user error.
And less fanboyishly are you sure that those new GF cards are agp 1.0 compatible? cuz if it's not it could fry the card... also he may not have room or enough power for that huge fan... he'll probly just get a new case (everything) anyway so nevermind  the MX 400 does come in a pci form.

Really the GeforceFX is such a dud. They're running @ 500Mhz with DDR-II memory. Special low-level compression techniques are used to speed this stuff up as well. It's been crammed onto a .13micron and they have to use a massive fan to cool it! Not to mention the numerous delays. All this and it barely keeps pace with the Radeon 9700, which runs around 300Mhz, w/ 300Mhz reg DDR.

the R300/350 cores also support DX9 shaders much better than the nVidia solutions. Since the DX9 was mainly designed around the R300/350 cores. ATI is making a name for itself and nVidia seems to 3dfx'ing itself :P

A 9700 Pro or a 9800 ;o are both good choices.

I only said for klinky to post his bargain specs, I wrote nothing on what craptastic video card he's gonna need... That's all on Edo, the guy who couldnt figure out why his analog tv was capturing at craptastic resolution. Get your fucking quotes right before you post them you asswad.

Let's not worry about the cost. Let's just think of the requirements my computer would need to be able to make a video. More knowledge means It would cause me to make less mistakes. I wonder if Edo has made a list for me yet...
