u dont have to match them but it u have a 400 fsb cpu then 400mhz ram will make it faster but if u have a 333 fsb cpu and u have 400mhz ram then the ram will be being held back by the cpu also if your cpu is 400fsb and u have 333mhz ram then the cpu will be being held back. so it is a good thing to match them but u dont have to

Yeah....what he said.

You want to match frequencies on your RAM and Processor. The Front Side Bus is the frequency each of them operates along that "bridge" and thus if they don't match, one will be waiting for the other. It won't be bad to the point where it sucks ass, but it's still a nice little boost in performance.

Well, I certainly learned a heck of a lot in this topic, thanks. That actually solves my problem completely. I'm an AMD fan, also. Been one since we left the Pentium-II ^_^ back in '97... '98...? The good ol' days...

Anyways, thanks for the information. Check's in the mail. All that jazz.

Oh, your soundcard is missing, if that nVidia board can do what the latest Audigy can do, then go for that... otherwise... Creative's the way to go I think.

I'm running Audigy with ATI Radeon 9700 Pro under 1.25 gigs of SDRAM on my AMD 1600XP plugged into an EPoX (8KTA+ ?) board. Runs great for me, but I'm going to be updating the CPU, and thus the Motherboard and thus the RAM soon.

I bought a server tower... it's tall so there is room but with 3 hard drives and three cd/dvd drives, there are lots of cables bunched up in one area. just find something that looks good (at least that's what i did).
