Always check the basics first, because half the time it's the obvious that is the problem.

Check connections between the hard drive and mobo
Check that your vid card is properlly seated
Check that the connections is solid between the monitor cable and the vid card

Do you have more than one HD? Does the HD/s already have an OS installed on it?

Does your computer POST when you turn it on? (Power On Self Test) You should hear a beep or two when it turns on, if the mobo is good.

thats the major thing, if you hear the POST that can tell you if something wrong (or right). usually you will hear 1 beep if the POST found no problems (some motherboards are different tho). if you hear anything like multiple beeps or something else, that could mean a peice of hardware isn't working or installed wrong, so make sure everything is installed correctly.

You also might want to try and run the computer with only CPU, RAM and a video card (if you have an AGP card, try getting a PCI one and trying that. one of my motherboards had a bad agp slot). To see if will boot, since you only need those to boot a computer. if it does, then your most likely having a power issue (shorting off the case, or PSU wattage is too low, right?).

OH!! and i forgot one more thing!!! this happens a lot actually (well happened to me twice hehe...) on the powersupply you can change the input voltage (either 120 or 220?). make sure that is right. if you live in the US the voltage for a regular power socket is 120 (in most cases it is). so make sure to move that switch over if it is not 120 (it's located on the power supply next to where the power cable is plugged in, if you didn't know)

i disconnected all the drives to make sure they are not couseing problems and it still doesnt work. also it doesnt POST there are no beeps or anything. also i know that u can change the power im in the usa and it is on 120. the vid card and ram are seated properly i like quadruple checked. im thinking its a mobo problem since there is no beep at all.

No POSTing usually means an issue with the cpu or the mobo.

ummm....yeah, right....you do know that the 9200 is like the MX version of the GeForce 4, a.k.a. the low-end consumer version? oh and it's not really a good idea to compare the 9700 and 9800 since they're based around different chipsets(R300 and R350 if i remember right...doubt i do) :\

don't buy the 9200 if you can help it...go for the 9600(great performance for the price)...go for the XT version too if you can afford it.

then why doesn't the AthlonXP in my second comp run Premiere Pro, yet my friend's P4 can? you should really differeniate between the different AMD cores, since the Thoroughbred A/B cores(yes they still make/sell chips with these) don't support SSE/SSE2 instructions making it impossible to run programs that require these instructions. but i'm by no means bashing AMD...i swear by their processors and nVidia's nForce mobos.

and that 2800 is a nice chip, go for it.

check to make sure that you mounted the motherboard correctly in the case....i had this problem with my new case when i put the board in, it turned out that the mobo was shorting out on the case itself....just had to put something between the bottom of the mobo and the mounting brackets. if that's not the problem, you may have purchased a faulty mobo, or even a dead processor :\

yea thats what i had to do (cuase my mobo was shorting off the case also)... but i never had the chance to really do that cauase the mobo fried shortly after i found out that good piece of info. hey, how do you put something on the mounting brackets anyway? wouldn't it just slide off when you try to get the mobo mounted? (never really tried but it looks like a pain in the ass...any tricks?

so ur saying that adobe premire pro doesnt work on AthlonXP? i thought AMD were good for editing softwares

you'll need an AthlonXP with a Palamino or Barton core...so anything marked 2400 and up will work fine....i was just using the fact that my brand new 2000 WON'T run premiere Pro, yet hitori said that XPs run exactly like P4s

but my point is, your 2800 will run Pro just fine, so don't worry about it
