Export to Tape

Post by King_Cold » Sat Nov 29, 2003 5:22 pm

I tried with many programs, I can't seem to manage to export to my sony DCR-TRV80 using export to tape or print to tape functions. I can't use my cam as an external preview monitor also while editing. When I export to tape everything looks normall, it makes no error and my cam start actually recording but she records nothing, Sometimes I do get one frame to actually be recorded. Also while I edit, it does'nt show up on my cam's LCD. Every couple of seconds I do see something for a second or 2.

Capturing from a camcorder is one thing, but exporting is another entirely. It either works or it doesn't in my experience. I've used the Sony TRV 900 with Video Studio. What programs have you tried? Some things to check when exporting:

Are you outputting DV-1 video? Is the camcorder set to VTR?

Are you using a USB or a firewire? USB is typically only used for still images. Use the firewire or get one if you don't have it. Also unlpug any other USB or firewire devices. Webcams and card readers are notorious for causing problems.

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Check your firewire controller. It should either be MS 1394 or TI 1394. Make sure your video editing program is set to the appropriate device controller. Also in Device Manager got to Sound Video Game Controllers. Your camcorder should be listed there. If not, go back to control panel and try running the add hardware wizard to confirm proper installation with the operating system.

Check and see if you have Direct X 8.0 or later. Do this by running Direct X diagnostic by going to Start, Run, type in 'dxdiag' If you need an update, go to [shudder] microsoft.com and download version 9.0.

These are possible general fixes. You probably need to check both with Sony and also the editing software's websites/tech support to get an actual fix.

I checked everything you said and it's still not working. What's strange is that once in a while I see one or 2 frames that have been recorded. I tried with a few programs, never with video studio, I'm gonna try with it now.
