Need some help with nero and dvd player

Post by Souske19 » Wed Jun 30, 2004 11:49 am

Hello.

I'm fairly new to making AMV's and rfecently bought a new Laptop. I also got Nero software with it. (Nero player, cd/dvd burner, recode etc) and I'm trying to find out if anyone knows if I am able to capture video direct from my dvd drive on the laptop.

The help manuel isn't and so far I haven't heard from thier customer services. Its really frustrating. I've put this topic into the hardware forum because I wasn't sure about it.

Any comments would be helpful.

Thank you.

well there are software programs out there that let you capture whats on your screen. you could also plug (if you have video in/out on your laptop which i dought) the video out port into the caputer card or video in and then record that. but the best way and the right way to get footage off a dvd is to rip(use a program to copy it to your harddrive) it. click the link in my sig that goes to the guides and read them. then d/l the programs necessary and then you will be able to rip the dvd.

Do you know the brand and model of your notebook? Can you be a little more specific about it?
Nero is more of a tool for burning data on CD/DVD discs. Although there is software from them that makes backups of unprotected movies, I don't think that's what you're looking to do.

Without knowing what your laptop can do, I would say your best bet is to rip the video from your dvd's.

Nero is great for when you are finished and want to burn your project onto a Svcd, or DVD, in fact I use the same. I use it to rip CD's for music, but that doesn't sound like what you are after.

You are better off getting the smartripper to rip dvd's to your hard drive. It's a tiny little program and rocks. www.doom9.org should have all your software needs in that department.
