Video editors that run on Windows 98...
Hoy, anyone know any video editors that fit the above requirements? I downloaded ULead studios 7, but it was...not suited for the task. Not suited for huge chunks of video. Not up to scratch for the task I have in mind. So, anyone know any decent software?
BTW, due to some problems with the Yahoo parental controls <grinds teeth> I couldn't use the forum on my default profile, as The Dark Shadow. So, I shall be using this profile for the forum. If anyone actually cares.

I run 98. I still have Premiere 5.1 on my system. Meri's computer is WinME (*gasp!*) and we run Premiere 6.0 on that one.
r0X0rZ we are.

Only old versions of Premiere - which you might be able to find on EBay or in a used software store. The latest version of Premiere requires WinXP.
Take a look at this thread:

That has links to info pages that can tell you what the O/S requirements are for some of the less-expensive software. Most of the mid-grade software will run with Win 98SE.

Video Studio 7.0 is designed Windows 98 Second Edition. It won't work on the original version. You could try earlier versions of Video Studio.
The program is kind of limited. It's a beginner level software. If you mean it doesn't work as in you don't have enough editing capabilities, you probably should consider Ulead's Media Studio Pro.

Thaks, y'all. That's actually very helpful. I'll consider all of those, although the money side may be a bit of a hinderence...
Still, the ULead Pro sounds good. As does the Adobe Premiere v5. Thanks again.

I use Win98SE as my main video editing computer. I use 4.2 on it and it works fine and has all the effects I need. My laptop has 4.2 and 7.0 Pro installed, but I never use 7.0 Pro, it's too slow and I can't find a reason for me to personally use it. The reason I have 4.2 is I found it on a old software disk of my dad's, so it's a good deal, didn't cost me anything. And Pro I got from a kid from the TV Club at school. Ebay would be the best I would say. Premiere works very well and it took me a while but I figured out all the features. So I would suggest Premiere but also consider your RAM. Each newer premiere uses more and more RAM as computers get better. So if you have a slow computer, don't try for something that will be even slower.
