Shuttle SS51G $175
P4 2.4 GHz $125
1 GB RAM $175
DVD-RW $80
200 GB h/d $150
WinXP Home $100
About $900 after adding keyb/mouse/spkrs. Add $$ to use AGP video card instead of on-board graphics. AMD systems run a bit cheaper.
The SS51G is their bottom-of-the-line case. Higher end cases range from $300 -$400. See newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com for pictures and specs.

You knew I'd say this, but I'd rather get an Athlon 64 system for the same amount. I believe someone posted a link to an Athlon 64 system for under $1,000 and that'll smoke a 2.4 Ghz P4 (esp. since it beats a 3.4 Ghz P4 at almost all benchmarks).TaranT wrote:Shuttle SS51G $175

At a given clock speed that's usually true.AMVfreak wrote:i heard AMD processors are more cheaper than intel...?
Well, if you're going for one of those, why not have two in the same size case:dwchang wrote:You knew I'd say this, but I'd rather get an Athlon 64 system for the same amount. Iwill ZMAX, dual Opteron, small form factor. (I think Quu posted this link earlier.)
It's a good-looking case, and that shark fin is perfect.

That's just the case though (~$500). Buying the two Opteron chips alone will set you back over $1,000 since those are our server-level chips.TaranT wrote:Well, if you're going for one of those, why not have two in the same size case:dwchang wrote:You knew I'd say this, but I'd rather get an Athlon 64 system for the same amount. Either way, that system does indeed rock.
