640MB It's enough for this system because i've reached my personal point of diminishing returns with it (it's a low-end Dell laptop). When/if I ever have the money, I was looking into server MotherBoards spicifically for RAM capacity of 8+ GB

A64 procs work better with 1 gig ram sticks as well, so I hear. Also if you don't have two identicle sticks of ram these days, your just crazy o.0DriftRoot wrote:It's not so much the RAM when editing, it's the RAM when editing with which program - among other factors related to slowness and crashing like your processor, HD cleanliness etc. One person's tolerance for slowness/crashing will be different from someone else's, too.

That wouldn't change the amount of RAM you have.SSJ3 Son Jp wrote:a virus hit my computer just yesterday. So I had to delete everything from my computer.. a system restore. So now my computer is like it was when I first bought it.. and to think, yesterday was my computer's 1 year anniversery.Michele wrote:I think this is an important question. How much RAM do you have in your Hardware? Did you never faced problems like crashes, slowness or frustrating lags in the programs you use? I would like to know how much RAM do you have, and how much do you think it's important when editing.
Sorry for the technical thread. ;O But I think it'll be useful.
I've got 1 GB from OCZ, running at 2.5-3-3-6 (I believe it can do 2-3-3-6 when I'm not overclocking).
