if you have the cash, id recommend the new athlon 64 chip, all the info ive seen on it, looks like it will work great for editing(at least thats what the ulead site ways)

the athlon 64 will run u about $500+ for just the chip. and the lowest ghz amd is 1ghz lol then u can get down to mhz but i recomend the amd 2800 iv heard good things about it

thats incorrect amds run cooler
what's incorrect? Oh and i forgot to add the the intel cpus have a failsafe that shuts off the cpu before it over heats (or soemething like that) at the time the amd cpu didn't so it fried :| I am only remembering what i have read. "Thats incorrect amds run cooler" doesn't make me want to go out and buy one right now... gimme some proof. someone with a 2800+ or higher cpu run your comp with the just a standard heatsink and fan and tell me what the temp is :|

will do when i get it on fri. but i have heard that it they run much cooler then p4's. the only diff between the 2800 and the 3000 is speed but the 2800 should do fine http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.a ... amd%2C2800 on that page AMD ATHLON XP 2800 "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- RETAIL thats the one i got its like $180 something.

yea if u have the money then go for the extra speed it would be nice but i think the amd 2800 is enough
