My XP 2100 runs pro just fineTorrensOdium wrote:you'll need an AthlonXP with a Palamino or Barton core...so anything marked 2400 and up will work fine....i was just using the fact that my brand new 2000 WON'T run premiere Pro, yet hitori said that XPs run exactly like P4s
but my point is, your 2800 will run Pro just fine, so don't worry about it

im gone put the washers between the mobo and case and have the screws go through them. i mean were else would they go. thanx for that idea btw. if that doesnt work i guess im gone have to return the mobo and get a new one.Pwolf wrote:well duh... but if the mobo is shorting off the case, you can use plastic washers to fix that problem, how would you keep the washers in place?jonmartensen wrote:Hmm? Should be easy, you just screw the board onto the mounts.

I didnt' read all these posts, but I got the gist from Justin (Doki was a taddletale ).
You're kind of right about AMD motherboards, but...not really. I think your experiences may stem from the past. As anime-dragon has said, the newer ones have been getting great reviews and I know on our end that we help verify them by testing our own parts. That is obviously for ourselves too.
You're also correct about nVidia. I really like the nForce2 (and 3) board. BTW I am not saying something I know in secret. I'm not in chipsets and know what you guys know. And from reviews and features (has everything you could want), it looks good.
So I guess I'd say you should reconsider now since chipsets have really caught up. My Tyan Tiger MPX board (dual processor) is awesome and I haven't had any issues other than the ones I cause myself (i.e Pwolf . Always properly ground yourself and discharge).
So do the research

Considering my Throughbread 1700+ runs Pro fine, your 2000+ CPU is fucked.TorrensOdium wrote:you'll need an AthlonXP with a Palamino or Barton core...so anything marked 2400 and up will work fine....i was just using the fact that my brand new 2000 WON'T run premiere Pro, yet hitori said that XPs run exactly like P4s

One minor correction, the Palamino core was not a model 2400+. It ran up through 2200+ (maybe even lower).TorrensOdium wrote:you'll need an AthlonXP with a Palamino or Barton core...so anything marked 2400 and up will work fine....i was just using the fact that my brand new 2000 WON'T run premiere Pro, yet hitori said that XPs run exactly like P4s

The Thoroughbred core ran through the 2200+ through 2800+ line at frequencies between 1.8 - 2.25 Ghz.
The Barton core ran through 2600+ (? I think it did in the beginning) through 3200+
Why do I know this? Because I worked on the Thoroughbred and Barton cores.
