I would say go with an XP around 2100 to 2600, inless you want the very best (3.0+ Ghz) then go with the P4.

If your going to build it yourself, might I first have you look at this:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2522582</a>
Note the KT600 chip - this is a must for anything faster than 2400+ AMD's

Next, note that there is nothing said about the
IDE: ULTRA DMA ATA 133/100/66 being --Serial--
many hard drives today are Serial Drive DMA 133/166 types - watch-out!!

I use this board for an example because it is my bid that won and the person who will be using it will also have one of my AMD 2500+'s and there is no need for having a MotherBoard which can not keep pace with the Processor!!!

I'm checking into the Socket 754 for AMD Athlon64 boards as well, so far this
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... y=42012</a>
looks promissing - and as such might be a better option ^^
( however, this requires the PC3500 RAM's - price ? ( not to bad ^^ )

? CPU Prices ? If your going to use AMD's, use the Barton Design ^^
<a href="http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/SaleSe ... y=165">AMD Athlon's at E-bay</a>
or

Check out the articles at http://www.tomshardware.com. They do frequent testing of processors in applications like gaming and video editing. Latest testing shows AMD currently in the lead.

hehe
Sign up for PayPal.com and you may be surprised to notice something - they
are E-bay's in Every Country - just like Amizon.jp and other locations.

umm . if you really want to get something off of E-bay, let me know - I'll relay
it for you ^^ ( I'm in Northern Minnesota - towns population 3,400 )

Also check out CCNow.com - they work with World Wide Bank transfers and Exchanges.

the reason i want canadian stores is because most of the stuff in eBay are in US dollors. when i convert the currency plus the shipping plus taxes its too much.

i will check out ZingPc <-- thanks for the link.
