Build your own for under $1000. Or I'll do it for about that price.

Nice pick there, but what about VCH?

And are you against my said pricetag or something?

I'm guessing VCH is standing for Video Capture Hardware.
And if that's the case, eMachines might not have them.
You'll have to buy it individually, but of course, that's assuming if you want to capture some footage.
And are you against my said pricetag or something?
Not at all.
The situation's too general to choose a right pricetag anyways.

In anycase, s/he can sure buy a power machine with $2200 to spend. I thought s/he was low on money... >_>

Well it depends, I built someone a WINNT type for Video Editing for $950 and change.

If you have $2200 to spend on a computer and don't feel comfortable building one, I'd recommend Alienware. They make the best-quality premanufactured PCs on the market.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

Alienware is certianly recomended. My laptop from them and the lab we built with them have not failed us/me yet. They are exceptional machines.

$2200 will buy you some serious stuff, especially if you're planning on reusing old components such as your existing monitor. I'm fairly sure that you could buy a dual Opteron box for that money...

If your going to go all out on a desktop stick with Falcon or Alienware although Falcon is my choice, I have owned many laptops (now come today with my 9100/XPS Modded Laptop makes 29) and flacon just seems to have higher standards in my mind but thats me. But the memberds here are right build your own. I can really help with getting the parts, I recommend an Athlon 64FX if you have the whole 2200 to spend. granted it will not take that much but the FX Athlon 64's are a pricy chip.

Anyway I would say that for oh :
You could have this:
A64 Clawhammer 3400+ or higher if wanted (130- 260)

A64MB nforce 3 chipset (best for stability and overlcoking if desired) (50-80)

1Gig of atleast 3200 Speed DDR Ram (I would do 1.5 if you can just 3 sticks of 512 would be perfect) (110-210)

120Gig ATA 7200RPM or maybe a 80 Gig SATA 7200/10000RPM but those are alittle more. Its up to you. (60-140)

nVidia Gefore 6800 256MB Graphics card, I would say the Standard version would be perfect for you. Your not gaming. (280-340)

17' or bigger flat screen LCD (Not CRT) they are crisp and clear and it will not have any ghosting, but again these are pricey. (300-600)

Case and PSU would be either plain or customized depending on what you want but I would say atleast a 550Watt PSU. (PSU would be like 40-60) Case would be like (60-90)

So going inbetween all of these your looking at about 1150 for a completely ready to edit and kill some gaming if you want, computer. It may even be cheaper but its better to figure high then just be happy when you are low.
