Do you need a video capture card?

Hi, I'm new to making AMVs and I've got these dvds I want to use for clips. I don't have a video capture card so I was wondering if there was another way to get clips off dvds without one. I have a dvd rom and all that.
My comp is haywire!

No, you don't need a capture card. You can simply rip the contents of the DVD to your hard disk.
