New and needs help [DVD ripping]

Ive read all the guides and stuff but i still dont know how to get the actual footage from the dvd. What program should come up and stuff.

The first thing you need is some kind of DVD ripper, usually either SmartRipper (what I use) or DVD Decrypter (what a lot of other people use), to get the VOBs off your DVD and onto your hard drive.

Then you need the program formerly known as DVD2AVI (I understand it's got a different name now that Donald Graft's basically taken over its development) to index those VOBs into D2V project files.

okay i got the files i wanted in an AVS file and in VirtualDubMod but now how do you cut that up and stick it together to make the movie?

generally what you want is an editing program.

There are free trials all over the place, or you can use a free program, like Windows Movie Maker 2 (easy to use, windows xp only, very limited)
