FFX-2 "Memory of the Lightwaves" video
Well, I still havent caughed up the money for a CAPTURE video card, and I've checked up on the other forums I posted about this on and there was no real new information. so I thougt I'd go ahead and restart the forum.
OK everyone, if you are a(n) FF fan and are wierd like me, you LOVED the opening credits piano intro to FFX-2 (the song is called "Memory of the Lightwaves" or something like that.) Well I loved it! and I just thought I'd ask if anyone has seen that video floating around somewhere on the net.

Video? What video? Or are you talking about when its showing various credits and cool pics of parts of the bodies of various characters, and Yunas guns, ect.? Unless thats what you mean by 'video' I can't say I know what you mean. :/
And if thats it, no I haven't seen it anywhere...and I doubt you'll find anything besides FMVs really.

ummm... ok... ya actually thats EXACTLY what I'm reffering to.
and umm... were you being sarcastic? (sarcism isn't exactly foreign in these areas) Cause I have been searching everywhere to find it and I can't find it. so if you're being sarcastic, and you know where it is... PLEASE TELL ME... Stop the insanity. lol
if you're being serious and eally don't think I'll ever find it...
well... like I say, confirmation is a blessing.

Umm actually I'm being completely serious...as I am 98% of the time around here (I suppose I am a bit odd).
I doubt you're going to find it anywhere online...you wanna know why? Because all the videogame vids you find online are FMV/cinematic scenes that have been ripped off the games...its NOT a cinematic/FMV scene, which means unlike cinematic/FMV scenes, it cannot be ripped directly off the game via, say, a DVD drive. The only way one would get it off the game is to cap it...I wouldn't mind doing it for you but my connection is rediculously slow so perhaps you can find some other fast connected, generous soul with video capture capibilities and the game to capture it for you? Thats my advice because otherwise I seriously doubt you'll find it anywhere online.
But anyway yeah and if I happen to stumble upon it (which I REALLY doubt), I'll let you know.

Ya, that was kinda what I thought...
I went through all the ripping tutorials and ended up being able to get like 11 or 12 videos off the game. not one was the video I wanted lol... (Ironically enough... I purchased a video card prior to trying this just long enough ago for the return policy to expire. ) : / I should have got a capture card... lol
Only thing about a capture card, is that I heard they don't do good quality. is this true?
(this next part is kind of a retorricle question)
I would think that the makers of the game would have saved there projects in some kind of format (maybe not in the game but somewhere) where they could use it later. If thats true, I would think there's adleast one person out there that could get there hands on it... and spread it around the net. MWAAA HAA HAA

1. Capture cards can give perfect quality...some are much better than others though. Many people use capture cards, and their quality is flawless, but most people think its better to go with directly ripping from a DVD if you can (which is probably true).
Short answer: no, thats a load of crap.
2. Yeah, but see, the video your reffering to isn't actually a video...well, it is a video of sorts I guess you could say, but its more various shots in a fancy presentation...its not an FMV...its like, I dunno the term for it...but its not FMV, so it doesn't work the same way.
Short answer: Its like the in-game cutscenes, the only way to get them is to capture because they just don't work like the FMVs do.

Hey, you seem to know a bit about video. You wouldn't happen to know about video programs, specifically animation programs, like 3ds max... would ya.
The MAIN reason I want that video, is because I want to recreate that video. Except, I am going to you anime scenes and characters instead of the ffx-2 characters. But I am having A FREAKING hell of a time with getting anything even remotly similar to the glowing flying thingies <--- technical term too... lol (the closest word I've come to describing object like that are "pixies"/"sprites"/"fireflies" that dispers) I want to use that video to compare and contrast with mine.

I apologize that I took a while to reply! it was a while since I recieved any replies. so I kinda stopped checking back. But See I kinda have this vision, dream, idea thingy. I REALLY loved that "memory of the lightwaves" opening credits video. It gives a me a feeling that the main character is rembering back on past incounters with fondness. to me it rushes me with since of sarinity. well. It's a freak'n long shot... but I was thinking maybe I'd be able to recreate that video... only instead of using the main characters from FFx-2, I'd use charatcers from differect animes. (I.E. cowboy bebop, evangelions, inuyasha, CCS, trigun... ect.) I REALLY like those pireflies, so I thought I'd start with those effects. then figure out how they did the transitions from image to image... and then figure out what style schemes those are (use of color saturations and what not. I.E. is it a grunge style or whatnot) and lastly, I was ACTUALLY hoping to create some characters in 3d. I was thinking of starting off with someone fairly easy like shiji. but only problem is, I have close to ZERO knowledge of 3d based programs. I have 3ds max r6... and I've been playing around with it in efforts to create pireflies (and looking into character modeling) but It's looking crappy so far. lol
Well anyways... sorry to ramble... but I' thought Id explain the full circumference of my idea. any feed back would be cool. and if you have any tips or direction... that'd be cool too. later
