New capture card/editing suite

anyone looked at this from Voyetra/turle beach?

its based on a CX 88X for capturing and a TI for DV.

This is complete crap in my opinion. All you need is an Adaptec firewire 400 card http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/produc ... 4+Adaptors for an easy $40

and a desent non-liner editer.

well, the firewire card doesn't have any of those other cool connectors, however. I'd would have been interested in it prior to my purchase of a PVR 350 by Hauppauge... would have probably gotten better video editing software, but I mainly wanted it because it has a video out on the card too...

not like I've used it all that much...

well, you may read the guides, but your review-ability needs some substance, there. . .

sorry; my opinion is based on the assumption that the person looking for a DV capture solution has a decent enough video card to already have and s-video and composite in/out put on it. I'm also assuming that that person has a recent enough version of premiere or is equivalent, to be able to support dv capture. Yes, my opinion is bias against your suggestion. I have not used this product before, but I can say that using a pci fire wire card is better that using the one that comes with your mother board. (if one came with it to begin with) I use this solution myself and have yet to drop any frames upon digitizing. with $170 you could instead buy a nice mother board and a fire wire pci card. I will mention that there is a common misconception that fire wire is faster then USB. That only true for fire wire 800, which not a lot of consumer applications fully utilize yet. USB 2.0 is indeed just as fast as fire wire 400. Every vanilia computer comes with at least two USB 2.0 ports these days.
