No, it's not. You need to check the laws again, and the forum rules again. You aren't supposed to ask for that sort of thing here, and ripping games is illegal, not to mention distributing them. Whether you own(ed) it or not is irrelevant.

Actually it's perfectly legal... the same as it is to own a digital copy of any DVD you own - it's the software programs that get around the copy-protection on the DVDs and Games that is illegal. There is no protection on my copy of FFX-2, which means if I could successfully copy it to my HD, I would be rightfully and legally able to do so.

You can easily walk into a game store and ask them to clean it for you.

Take better care of your games.

I have played through that game ten times, getting 100% completion on three of the playthroughs - I keep it in the case when not in use. I take perfectly good care of my games, but like anything involving a disk, wear and tear will make themselves known without much provocation. And yes, they'll clean it - for a price.

No, it's not. You need to go learn what you're talking about and quit pulling ideas out of your ass as fact. Ripping games and DVDs period is illegal, reguardless of what software/methods you use. Not that that's really relevant on this site since AMVs in general are illegal, but even still. Moral and legal are not the same thing.

What is relevant is that you're asking for someone to send you an ISO of a game, and that's against this forum's rules. It's a bannable offense that luckily, for you, isn't really enforced.

Go find your own software stealing methods.

Go take a legal course.. no, really. You need it. Or better yet, buy a legal handbook - cheaper and gives you the same information.

Having backups is legal. Seriously. I'm not even going to use the videos for AMVs, but for my own personal viewing without damaging the disk sectors every time I do.

Whats the quality like for pss files? Is it as good as using a video capture card? And what's the standard resolution of a pss file? Thanks =P

First off, I'm pretty sure there is no set standard resolution for a .pss file since I've seen them come in all sorts of resolutions. Most .pss files are just mpeg-2 streams, though I have seen one game which contained mpeg-1 formatted .pss files as well. (Xenosaga 3)

Last but not least, 99 times out of 100, it's always better to rip the files if you can from dvd's. Not just from video games, but from movies too. Not only is the quality bound to be much better, but it's also just a much faster process. Once again, Xenosaga 3 might be the only game out there where I could honestly reccommend perhaps capturing the footage over ripping it. The mpeg-1 quality of that footage just looks god awful to view on a monitor compared to watching it through a television.

manual ripping is the best way to get .pss files off a ps2 game. its worked for me on every game except the first Kingdom Hearts {i think thats the only exception} and i'm pretty sure it'll work on FFXII. i'ma try later.

I'd like to add to avdcptr's post: that method also does not work on Shadow Hearts Covenant or Shadow Hearts: For The New World. I have tried it in a variety of ways and I still have not found a way to rip either of those games.

The person who posted that managed to find all the start points to all the fmv's. I would've liked to extract them myself, but he doesn't tell you the end points. If anyone can tell me what to do based on the what he posted there, I'd personally appreciate it. I know how to locate the offsets he posted w/ WinHex no problem. I just don't know where the offsets of the end of each fmv.

I tried everything(which works) except 1 thing!!

1.) "Once the scanning process is done, select each of the mpg files, click on "properties" and change the mpg extension to pss. When you are finished, press "extract" to extract the pss files to your hard drive. "
--I cant right clcik the MPG and chnage it to a PSS file, Maybe Im doing sumthing wrong, or Im getting confused in the little amount of information. So please me, snice I belive my prob is very petty and doesnt require much think for your guys (though for me its been a whole day of noting but frustartions!!)
