From what I've recently discovered, you can probably get better quality at a smaller filesize with XviD, which is why I like it, and I like how easy the configuration is, but eh, most people prefer divx, and you can defenitely get amazing quality with it. Either codec is capable of getting equal quality really, and they can both offer perfect, seamingly lossless quality (DVD quality in other words), so its all about preference really.
