To each his own I suppose. I personally didn't find any cut scenes at all in the game to be that entertaning to watch. I also didn't like a lot of the fmv's as well to be honest. About the only ones I enjoyed were fran and balthier's intro along with the fmv after that in which they meet up w/ vaan. But I suppose this is all really due to the fact that I didn't particularly care for the game much in general. So take my opinion w/ a grain of salt. I really didn't like the game which more than likely is the direct reason I could'nt bring myself to enjoy most of the cut scenes/fmv's.xoverburnx wrote:The majority of that game's awesome footage takes place outside of FMVs. Just a heads up.
But despite all that, I'm sure even you have to admit that the fmv's look so much prettier compared to the cut scenes, right?

If you can find a way to extract the audio from the fmvs in the us version of FFXII, then please, be my guest. In fact, I would be more than delighted to know how to extract the audio myself if you ever happen figure it out. I have done all the searching I'm going to do with both nova extractor and winhex. I suppose if there was one chance of finidng the audio to the fmv's, it would be with Cube Media player. But I also dont have the time to scan an entire iso of FFXII with cube media player since it takes up way too much of my computers process power. Basically using cube media player renders my pc unusable for as long as it's scanning. I know for a fact, the program can find a LOT of dialogue though. But other than that, I won't guarantee anything. And I'm not about to take the risk of personally wasting an entire day w/ my pc to find out. I'll leave that to someone else.
Besides, capturing the audio myself is both more time effective and guaranteed. Plus the audio quality sounds just fine. I've compared the audio files I recorded to the atrac3 compressed wav files from the japanese version of the fmvs and to be honest, mine sounded just as clear as the direct rips IMO. I had headphones on, so I don't know for sure if that's a better way or worse way of telling. *shrugs shoulders* The only real difference I noticed were that my recorded wav files were louder...(and in english obviously).
This next part it off topic, but
with regards to KH2, the only cut scenes I've notice that can be ripped are those that show flashbacks to KH1/CoM (since they utilized a completely different engine) and the 1000 heartless battle. I guess animating that many enemies all at once is way too much for the ps2 to handle in real time, so I guess they had no choice but to save it as an m2v stream instead.
This post went on a lot longer than I initially expected it too. So I'll end this here for now.

Oh, I see...it leads me to wonder how good do extractors extract audio from games and if they are the best quality Now I understand why the cutscenes in KH2 are extracted that way too THXsayde wrote:To each his own I suppose. Hi, I have a quick question. For those of you that managed to rip the FMV's from the Final Fantasy 12 Japan what resolution did you use? I'm a bit confused in which one I should use.
The 640 by 352 or 640 by 416 (which ffx and x-2 use) or something completely different?...which ones do you guys recommend? The original size is, 512 by 352.
Sorry to be a bother if I am, just thought I'd ask.
Please and thank you.

Sorry, I just have one more quick question about aspect ratio with the ff 12 Japan rips. I know its been mentioned how they are entirely widescreen but I had a look at them using DGIndex and in there it says the aspect ratio is 4:3, making them full screen...the original size is exactly as above though. Is it possible to have a wide screen frame size even though its aspect ratio is 4:3? Two of the clips required cropping and doing so brought the width down to 352 to.MaggIvy wrote: The 640 by 352 or 640 by 416 (which ffx and x-2 use) or something completely different?...which ones do you guys recommend? I just thought I'd bring it up, so are you sure that 640 by 352 is correct even when DGIndex says its full screen?
Please and thank you again...
