Ok well I've never made a video, and i want to try, I just went to Otakon and I had fun. But where do I start. I don't have a capture device. But i'm using a laptop computer. I have software for adobe photoshop. Where do I start? Any advice I would really apprecciate.

1) Go to animemusicvideos.org main page => click guides in the main menu. There's a variety of useful advice there
2) Go to this threadand see what some forum regulars have to say to newbies.
Hope this helps

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

First you need the source footage!
This will more then likely be DVDS. You will then need a DVD drive on your laptop in which you will put the dvd in (I know that sounds obvious but im just trying to help ).
Then you will need a program such as smart ripper or dvd decrypter which both are pretty explanatory that will let you rip the files into vobs.
From here you will need the AMVApp that is provided through Absolute Destiny and Ermak's guide in the guides section of this site.
Unzip that and load the program DVD2avi. Load your vob(s) in there and save the project as a .d2v file.
After you have installed all the avisynth stuff from the AMVApp pack you will be able to open notepad and make a script that will show where your d2v file is, size it, and un interlace it along with some other stuff that isnt really nesacery in most cases.
You can then save the notepad file as a .AVS and load it in premiere.
From here you will need to download the MJPEG codec which i dont have a link to right off the top of my head but it should be easy to find. You export the AVS into an MJPEG file in premiere.
From here you can edit with your MJPEG files at a quick rate in Premiere even though they are low quality. When your project is done you can then move all your mjpeg files to a differnt area on your computer. Then load your project in premiere. It will ask where your files are but instead of showing it the mjpeg files you show it the .AVS files. You then do your final export under the HuffyV codec provided with the AMVapp pack. You now have a DVD quality version of your video.
From here you will be using the program TMPENC ( i think thats what its called ) or Virtual Dub to add the filters and such before making your final export from one of them.
All of this information is a very condeced version of A&E's guide and you really should be using that for a more in depth version of it. This should however give you an idea of what you will be needing.
Hope it helped!

There you go! Im sorry i just started typing and didnt realise it became that long. Just read the guides they do everything step by steptrythil wrote:It's not complicated; Shun just made it harder than it has to beAllia wrote:You have just scared me away from wanting to try and make an AMV. So complicated, and I'm so confused.
Basically: get footage, slice up, rearrange, render. The guides just tell a more refined version of it.
