windows vid capture prog

ok, anyone know of a decent program that can be used to capture windows as video ? as in, for example i want to open a vid file, put it to full screen and capture it (not frames, as in capture as avi or something)

Camtasia can do it, though it is very expensive. Camstudio is free but I don't think the company distributes it anymore.
