i know this has prolly been answered...but ok here it goes..:

i have a bunch of tapes that i really dont wanna have to buy the same thing on DVD just to rip them to my comp...so is there anyway i can use my tapes on my comp..? if so what are the things i need...and some suggestions..?

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You need a capture card.

In short, it's a lot less complicated and space-intensive to buy the DVDs.

How much are you willing to spend ? This is a classic cost vs quality situation. If you don't care that much about the image quality, you can get by with $50 to $100. If you want high quality, you're looking at a minimum of about $250 and then up from there.

If you want specific suggestions, we'll need to know what you have in your PC: which model of video card, Firewire ports, USB 1 or 2, which video editing software, etc. Also, if you happen to have access to a miniDV (or digital 8 ) camcorder, which brand and model.
