Audio Capture Issues

Post by NEØ » Thu Oct 21, 2004 7:41 pm

To cut a long story short I’m having trouble capturing audio both from sound imputed such as that from audio leads and from sound inside the computer such as using a recording program to record what I hear. The weird thing is I’ve done both before without any trouble.

My capture card has never captured sound the way the manual directed, I always had to plug the phono leads into an adapter that lead straight into the sound card.

I’m not sure if that’s relevant or not but basically I can’t record any sound now, I’m not sure if it’s my software setup I’ve unsuccessfully ran through every volume setting to make sure nothing is muted and can’t see any problems there.

Suggestions anyone? :(

Does anyone know any way that I might have muted recordings at all?

if you've made sure your sound recording/voice recording (in xp it would be control panel/sounds and audio/audio or voice tab/sound or voice recording volume) is unmuted, i'm not sure what the problem would be.

what program are you using to record?
make sure the recording level in that program is also unmuted if it has one.

. what operating system? Windows, Lynux, MAC ?
. What Sound Card are you using?

you've sorta left everyone "hanging" on possibilities without knowing what your using.

Also make sure that the device you are recording from is selected in the volume controls under the recording section.

To check this, open the volume control panel. Go to Options -> Properties.

Select 'Recording' and make sure the input device/option you want to use is selected. Hit ok and then choose the device that you wish to record from.

I tried all of your suggestions and the problem is solved, thanks a lot everyone. :D

The line in, wasn't selected, but wasn't muted, which I don't fully understand but it works again at last.
