Ok I have dvd's but no way Of useing them in my music videos.
Keep in mind I have tried and all I have is windows movie maker.
Now I heard about something called a dvd ripper but I have no idea what it is or where to buy one.
Finaly can anyone give me advice on how to make effects...you know where it shows a picture and than there is like this..transperant video running on the same thing at the same time.....not sure how to describe it but I would like to know how to do things like that or how one part of the movie fades into the next sceen instead of just flashing to it.
And please keep in mind im still an ignorant noobie that knows almost nothing.

...you'll figure things out...it's just like a point and click game...And please keep in mind im still an ignorant noobie that knows almost nothing.
put your cursor over things and click to find out what they do. hint: leaving your cursor above buttons sometimes displays its function.(like the button below the preview window says "Splits the clip...")
fading is the neatest thing: just drag one clip over top of the other, so that where the clips overlap there will be a fade. another hint: different transitions can be achieved under tools > transition effects >>then drag the type of transition you want between the two clips.
as well, effects can be added under clip > video effects
...the most important ones are slow down, speed up because it can help sooo much with the timing/synch issues which is vital to your vid.
(my fav effect is fading to white/black; which can even be achieved two ways: 1 using the effects tool, or 2 by overlaping a 'white frame'(see last hint)-->be creative with this (doesn't have to be a 'white frame' )).
last hint: you can use pictures as part of your video (.jpg, .png etc...) and thus you can add 'effects' if you have picture-editing software (yes, even ms paint)
ps: good luck extracting dvd clips(with the help of the guides)
