Post by Akashio » Tue Jul 23, 2002 11:37 pm

does anyone know how I can convert d2v files into DV video without using premiere to do it? I don't think I'm able to do it in virtualdub am I?

Oh, and to add to my post: you can open the AVS files in VirtualDub, and encode the entire video in the format of your choice.

I want it in DV NTSC. Virtualdub can't compress to DV NTSC that I know of. I looked through the entire guide again and there's no explination on how to convert vob/d2v/avs to DV NTSC. :-/

You might be able to get away with it by using the MainConcept DV AVI codec, but this will not produce a true DV stream. Unfortunately, I don't know of any freeware products that can create DV streams offhand. Virtualdub wasn't intended for that sort of work.

You can do it in Premiere pretty easily, just open the AVS file and export the file as Microsoft DV.

If you've got a Pinnacle DV500 or something go download the newest drivers as they add a VFW codec for Pinnacle DV which works in VirtualDub correctly and will output Type2 DV AVI files.
