In WMM is it possible to get one scene to fade into the next?

Yeah.. what you gotta do it grab the trim triangle(the little gray triangle above a selected clip) and move it back.. however long you want. Pics 1 and 2 show this
Notice where the end of the clip is in gray(arrow is pointing to it) When you make a transiton.. you cant make it go farther then that.. of course.
Then grab the triangle again and move it over the next clip.. however far you need to 8) And thats how long the transiton will be.. hope this helps

that won't work for my wmm
I just dowbnloaded the new windows movie maker a week or so ago, but whenever i try to make any transition (even a simple fade) or add effects, the programs automatically shuts down. has this happened to anyone else, and ifso, do you know why? please help...if i can't get this stupid program to work i can't make videos anymore!
