WMM problems/distortion

Post by momiji_k » Sun Feb 02, 2003 11:08 am

Hello all!

I have enjoyed watching AMVs since my first trip to Otakon and have longed to make one myself. I now have some decent equipment to make them on but I am having some trouble here and there. I have read the guides as best I can, and read as many of the topics posted by newbies that I could find. I know that Windows Movie Maker is not a great program but Adobe confuses me and I want to start small. My problem is when I put a clip into the timeline on WMM it becomes... distored for lack of a better word. Sometimes the quality is fine in one frame and in the next it will be blurry or pixilated. Or in scenes with people making fast movements black lines appear around the moving images. Is it supposed to be like that? I checked the quality of my source footage and it is just fine. I also used the guide on getting footage, so I think I did that part right. The clips themselves are also fine in WMM, they only become distorted when I add them to the timeline. I tried finishing the video so it could be played on Media Player to see what the quality would be and it is the same. :(

One other note, I know it isn't just WMM. I have a friend that used the same footage on Adobe Premier (also on my computer) and it too had the black lines when there was a fast movement. The only difference was I didn't notice any blurrieness like WMM had.

I will be the first to admit I know next to nothing about making AMVs, but I want to learn and this is my attempt. Any help or tips that anyone can offer would be appreciated.
