heh... don't know if anyone's still watching this topic, but...

Small clips off the VCD-- namely, the FBI warnings (oh irony), could be downloaded without problem using this method, although file sizes were worryingly large (several hundred Mb for a 20 second clip). However, upon buckling down and attempting to convert the actual episode dats into avis using HuffYUV, the file sizes involved are so large that VirtualDub crashes (about 5000 Mb). There's got to be a way to segment the dats before converting, right? Or compress them more during the process? Or else I'm scrod.

Please help!

Are you using the FAT32 file system?

If so, don't. It has a 4GB limit on video files (or wait, was that legacy AVI?)

You can delete portions of video by going to the first frame of the are you want to delete and hitting "HOME" then move to the last frame and hit "END", then hit DEL. This will delete that section. You can use this to segment out clips. You have to reload the video file each time tho.

When I make clips, sometimes I'll just go through and delete section I don't need, but let all the section I do need sort of cut into each other. All your clips are in one file, but this is easier than saving each clip to it's own file.
