Need suggestions for music vid making program

Post by dbzgtobsession » Sat Jul 05, 2003 7:35 pm

Hey! I'm new at the whole music video making thing and I need a good but cheap (preferably free) program to make them with. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Are you talking about software? Hardware? Or both?

You can download 30-day demos of Adobe Premiere and Ulead Video 7.0/Media Pro, etc.

Ulead Media Pro renders fast, but, I wasn't able to get their transitions to do what I wanted them to during the demo period, they weren't simple click and drag. I'm using Ulead's VideoStudio 7 demo right now. I'm thinking about buying it after the demo runs out. Not sure though, because the demo is a bit buggy (at least it seems to me, can't load old saved projects, and doesn't have easy saving of current projects). It has click and drag transitions (though I keep on getting transitions that I don't want that I have to remove - another bug?)

But, anyhow, Ulead VideoStudio 7 renders fast, has an overlay track, some nice transitions, and other features. You can buy the downloaded version of it for $89.95.

A cheap software with some nice features is MagixDeLuxe. It can be very slow, prone to crashing, and can tend not to like some video formats/codecs. I'm using it, Ulead VideoStudio 7, and Pinnacle 8 on a current AMV project.

If you get a capture card, you might want to have it professionally installed.

What's the difference between hardware and software? Where do you get those programs you mentioned? And how do I get the clips I want to put in my music video? Thanks a lot.

Read the <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/">guides</a>.

And if you don't know the difference between hardware and software, you might want to bone up on your PC skills before getting into something like this.

hardware is like the VCR that records the tape.

Software is like the Buttons you control the vcr with.

I think one of the best and not so expensive is maybe Vegas Video from sonic foundry. The best free one would be Virtual Dub, but it really does not compare. And one which is free but only if you have XP: Windows Movie Maker 2. Movie Maker is probably the best free one. OH, if you have win ME you can get it too. But I really recommend Vegas Video for a cheap one. It's not so popular but it's very good. And also it's easier to handle. It even has some elements that can't be done in premiere, but offcourse can in After Effects. Ulead's soft is cheaper but I really don't like it. Well Vegas is not so cheap but it's cheaper than the other big out there : Premiere, Edition, Avid Media Composer etc... I think Vegas is 559 US if you buy the CD and I think premiere is 700 US.

And how do I get the clips I want to put in my music video?
You mean, how do you put onto your computer or just where do you get those. Cause you buy those. Or you read the Guides kthulhu linked to.

Hardware= Somekind of electronical device like a 3D card.
Software= A computer program. Or a cellphone program or a what ever program like Windows or Office.

And you get the program I mentionned or Kali_Ariel in a shop. I fyou meant where do you get the demos. Try their official sites:
www.adobe.com To get Premiere the demo
www.sonicfoundry.com To get Vegas Video demo
www.ulead.com To get progs from Ulead.
www.magix.com I think they have some video editing soft to.

You buy hardware in shops.
If you think about what you tought you knew then you know what you think you thought you knew but you think you don't and If you think about what you thought you knew, then you think you don't know what you thought you knew but you do.
