Information on DVDs

So, I'm getting Adobe Premiere here soon, but I know that it doesn't allow video information to be read off of a DVD. My question is what program can I use (assuming Legit, here) to take the video off my DVDs and put them onto my computer either as .avi, .mpeg, or some other format for Adobe Premiere to read. Another alternative for me is to get hardware for it, but even that I am not sure on. If someone could give me some help, it would be greatly appreciated.
