Premiere 6.0 vs 7.0
Im a 6.0 user myself. I tried out 7.0 and i just didnt like it at all. It seemed to me that the layout/look of the program had taken precidence over the overall function. I found alot of it unessisary and gauhdy...and it was a different set up in alot of ways. I didnt really take the time to try and reorient myself with the new interface... i just decided to stick to familiar territory and keep my 6.0
Anyone else like or dislike 7.0?

Personally, I'm finding that I like Premiere Pro better than I liked Premiere 5.1. Especially the keyframing bit with the transitions, and the much better control over certain effects (particularly the Garbage Matte). And the fact that transitions can now be applied on any track. Etc.

I tried Pro too and hated the new interface. Too much eye-candy. I'm still learning new things in 6.5, so I'm not going to invest the time to learn a whole new program just because Adobe wants me to.
Also the program still hasn't support for 23.976fps editing. But the main thing that made me uninstall Pro was the fact that they removed the "rubberbands". Why, Adobe, why?

I'm a moron.Scintilla wrote:Especially the keyframing bit with the transitions
Of course, I meant to say "effects", not "transitions".
And the rubber bands are a little hard to find, and a little harder than before to work (because you have to make the keyframes in the Effect Control window instead of just being able to click to create a new handle), but they're still there.

Premiere prior to Pro had the ability to keyframe effects as well, at least to an extent. I didn't realize this this until around mid-last-year myself... :pScintilla wrote:I'm a moron.Scintilla wrote:Especially the keyframing bit with the transitions

I know, and that's what annoys me. It slows the editing process considerably.Scintilla wrote:And the rubber bands are a little hard to find, and a little harder than before to work (because you have to make the keyframes in the Effect Control window instead of just being able to click to create a new handle), but they're still there.

Hehe... I discovered the same thing (well, Meri did it before me, but still...). Would have been a major help in past videos, had I known...Ashyukun wrote:Premiere prior to Pro had the ability to keyframe effects as well, at least to an extent. Yeah, I didn't have any clue you could vary the effects in Premiere over time until around ACen, when I saw D-Dubya do a lens flare in Premiere. I thought people just did things like that the way I did- in AfterEffects.VegettoEX wrote:Hehe... I discovered the same thing (well, Meri did it before me, but still...). I'm still using 6.5... Pro requires XP so I won't be upgrading for a while.

re
(thanks Scintilla , i will change it)
Boy, if i had a dime for all the things ive learned after the fact heh. From my first vid done in feb 2002 to my latest vid in dec 2003... what a difference the first vid would have been if i knew how to do half the stuff with premiere i do now.
And thats one of the things i didnt like about Pro... a lot of things that i used regularly in my video production were now hidden in strange places...and i really didint want to take the time to reorient myself with the setup.
