DVD2AVI problems: "corrupt" AVIs/ incomplete clips
Right now the problem I'm having is that I have the DVDs ripped, and they're sitting in my C drive just waiting to be taken from VOB format to be put into some format that I can import into Windows Media Maker to tinker with and make my AMVs. I am trying to use DVD2AVI, and any time I save into AVI format the program I'm trying to manipulate it with tells me it's corrupt or unrecognizable. I tried opening it in WIN DVD, Windows Media Player, then finally just directly making it into clips into Windows Movie Maker. I have tried doing this numerous times, I've also tried re-ripping it, to no avail. Slightly more successful was my venture into saving it as a project. Once I'd saved it as a d2v project, I opened it in the Gordian knot program then saved and encoded it. Once I had done this I tried to import it into Windows movie maker again. The first time, it saved the first 3 seconds, the second time it saved one second and some mysterious green interference, then the third time, a lot more green. I tried again, and instead of even giving me the first three seconds, it's giving me a black screen with red text telling me that a line isn't valid. I went in and tried to fix these invalid lines and now I'm back at the beginning with a bunch of VOB files and no way to make them any format useful for Windows Movie Maker. Now you know my long and frustrating story. Can anyone help me? I've looked at all the links to AviSynth, and I can't seem to download the right or useful thing. I think I'm perhaps just thick, but if anyone can please give me suggestions on how to fix this, I would appreciate it greatly
I'm looking for the patterns in static, they start to make sense the longer I'm at it.
