Your Best Clip Making Software....
hi guys... i was just wondering if everyone has their different ways of getting or capturing clips, and i mean digitally!!!
so what software do you consider the best when it comes to capturing clips and exporting them to mpeg or avi format?
well as for me, i use virtualdub (which i consider to be the most reliable and fastest manual clip making software around) to make my own clips. however it can only export your clips to AVI. i was wondering if there's any software out there that has the same features or does almost the same thing as virtualdub but only exports your clips to MPEG. is there?

Well I'm always unsure when people use the word "Clip"...
So I'll use my definition, thing...
The Declan_Vee dictionary entry for "Clip".
Clip (klíp) n, A piece of video that has been extracted from a longer piece of video and in most cases had any audio stream removed.
I think Premiere could also do this... as for MPEG, TMPEGenc can do something similar (Merge & Cut) but I think it only works with MPEG(1/2) streams... (not fully sure)
And for caturing video... I reccomend you use either the software that came with your capture card, or Virtualdub... (whichever works best for you) I use the Guillemot DVR, but it all depends on what you have.

Ugh, I'm too tired. Like I said... it all comes down to what your capture card manufacturers gave you vs Virtualdub...
I don't seem to have any problems with real-time MPEG2 captures... I don't know what you're using NME, I'd imagine HuffYUV would be a bitch when it comes to data rates... but I've never even considered trying it... maybe I'll give it a go.

There is no such term as 'clips' anymore it's all.
We call them flipers pronounced "FLY-PERS". Yes strange, but thanx to the new Digital Calibration Act of 1999 the French said we had to use their PAL standards with NTSC video on DVD players. ErMaC went to Japan last month to find out why this had to be, and we haven't heard from him since. Last time we knew from TheMac(he loves being called this btw) was when he was in a warehouse yammering about them bribing him with a beta 8th mix machine....
Flipers you can get through your floppy disc machine, but you need to get your DVD converters first. The A/V cables are hard to hook up and require soldering at first. You may need to use silver solder since rosen core isn't producing clear pictures.
When the TV is just right... You need to make sure you hit the VCR, DVD and the floppy eject button at the right time.. This will download the Codings that are required for digital capture. If the digital capture is offset a little. You'll have to flip the VCR and try again. Make sure your microwave is off when doing that.
I've known a few people who have gone to the hospital for the electric shocks when getting flipers so I would be careful... If you don't have a HAZMAT license or any sort of advanced electrical tech training(say atleast 10,000 volts), then AMV making is not for you..

You're almost as bad as Xeno during the bad Family Reunion video idea production.
...and if you can't get those Misato images digitized somehow! This baby seal is going to start crying.
