Trouble with avs files

Post by crimsonElegy » Tue Jul 27, 2004 5:29 pm

I’ve started to read the guides on how to produce high quality amvs and I’m stuck in the part about avs files. Whenever I open one of the files up, weather it is in Premiere or in Windows Media Player I get the following message.

DirectShowSource: the filter graph manager wont talk to me.
(the location of the avs file Line 1)

I know it’s probable something really simple and stupid but could somebody please help me out.

It's the simple and stupid things that kill you. Wasn't that an AMV?

Anyway, you're probably directing the DirectShowSource to the wrong file. Could you just copy&paste your script here?

If that’s not an amv then it should be, I’d it if I could get this to work

Anyway here’s the source

DirectShowSource("D:\AMV\-=Synthetic=-.mpg")

And the error message

DirectShowSource: the filter graph manager won’t talk to me
(C:\Documents and Settings\My name\Desktop\New Text Document.avs, line 1)

I’ve tried hundreds of variations with different files and different locations.

Here’s one of them where I tried to open a DVD2AVI File

MPEG2Source("D:\Movies\Gundam Wing\DVD2AVITest.d2v")

And one again an error message

Unrecognized exception!
(C:\Documents and Settings\My name\Desktop\New Text Document.avs, line 1)

I’ve also tired to load the plugin that the guide listed
(C:\AVSFilters\MPEG2DEC.DLL)
but I didn’t have it, however there was a MPEG2DEC3.DLL so I tried that

LoadPlugin("C:\AVSFilters\MPEG2DEC.DLL")
MPEG2Source("D:\Movies\Gundam Wing\DVD2AVITest.d2v")

But this is all I got

Unrecognized Exception!
(C:\Documents and Settings\My name\Desktop\New Text Document.avs, line 1)

If this is making sence to anyone please help.

Are you working with the old AMVapp or the newer beta?

I'm working with AMVamp 1.2 but I got it to work finally. I had to download the mpeg2dec.dll file and then everything worked fine. Thanks for the help everyone, and I don’t mean that sarcastically, there is no better motivation than trying not to seem stupid.

In a completely off topic add-on, I remembered the AMV. The name is "That chibi things that kill". It's a very good one too, plus it describes life so well

ha! You're right at that one. I'll make it my sig one of these days.
